Eco-Luxury Zone

Luxury for everyone

Everything is moving faster. The race for new products does not result in brand creativity but, rather, drowns the consumer in a sea of conformist choices. At a time when everything is disposable, when the shelf life of a product is only a few months, consumers now want luxury. Why? Because we all need to slow down and take the time to appreciate the product that we are going to purchase.

Luxury is not only about the demanding price of a product; above all, it's the immense satisfaction of having made the right choice.

Luxury with a conscience

Winter 2008-2009 is all about luxury and this concept extends to the sphere of eco-friendly designs. More and more, people are mindful of the impact products have on their personal well-being and the environment. Thus, there is a growing swell of support for products made from materials that are natural, organic, sustainable, recyclable, and environment-friendly in terms of manufacturing processes. The issue of fair trade and social responsibility provides an added dimension to the positive marketing of products.

Luxury is the creative hybrid of culture and fashion

People want to feel valued and respected. We are no longer naïve consumers. We are learning how to optimize our personal well-being in the here and now. So we look for products that integrate quality, ecology and respect for nature and ultimately enhance our daily lives.

At the Eco-Luxury Zone at APLF Fashion Access (Hall 5), bags, shoes, leathergoods and other luxury lifestyle products that support these earth-friendly and socially-relevant values are given focus.

Handmade Luxury

Vizcarra is a Philippine company whose products are perfect examples of eco-luxury. Using only the finest natural materials (e.g. rattan, pineapple and banana fibers) indigenous to the Philippines as well as the best leather from Europe, they give their artisans free rein in the development of bags and accessories that are seamlessly handwoven or finely embroidered and bearing the stamp of Filipino creativity and design savvy.

The company has innovated on weaving patterns, working ceaselessly in order to come up with products that are unique and stylish. "What our artisans create are far better than what any machine can do," Vicky Amaligan-Sales proudly proclaims.

"Handmade denotes luxury and this is where we hope to find our niche in the international market." Vizcarra soon plans to launch itself as a luxury brand to rival the market leaders in bags and leathergoods.

Natural Trend, Eco-Style

From Brazil comes AmazonLife, the new line of bags and accessories that unite style and ethics. Using the authentically plant-based "leather" or Treetap® obtained from the latex from rubber plants in the Amazon rainforest, products are modeled with pure charm and spontaneous eco-appeal. AmazonLife products also are made from canvas, natural cotton, braided jute, bamboo fiber, and recycled materials, enriched with bright floral embroidery. Components and accessories are made from coconut shells, old wood, and bone, among others.

AmazonLife is all about natural glamour and eco-chic style, placing great import on concepts such as ecological awareness, sustainability and renewable resources.
