Executive Director of The Brazilian Footwear Association (Abicalçados) and head of the Brazilian Footwear Export Program, Heitor Klein, has expressed a long term commitment to develop the Asian market and has chosen APLF’s Fashion Access as the primary sales platform for business development.
The fair’s popularity with Asian buyers, its proximity to markets such as China, India and Australia and its prime location in business-focused Hong Kong has deemed Fashion Access the ideal fair for Brazilian footwear companies to do business.
“China and India’s expanding middle class have developed a taste for western manufacturing, quality and design,” said Perrine Ardouin, senior event manger at Fashion Access. |

Abicalçados’ business strategy for Asia began as a national pavilion at Fashion Access Spring 2008 and has continued at each edition of the fair.
After Fashion Access March 2009 March, Abicalçados disclosed that orders for US$170 thousand had been confirmed at the fair itself with total sales of US$2.5 million projected for the next twelve months.
Moreover, despite an overall decrease of 26.5% in Brazilian footwear exports worldwide in the first four months of 2009, sales to Asia increased from 4% in 2008 to 5.6% of the total exported in January and February.
